Why is Film Important to Me

It's not an easy industry. I know that, everyone has told me that. They say, " Why are you here? why don't you go into Medicine? or Law? or something where money is abundant and you never have to worry about your next job?
And I've thought about all of these things. Not about going into law or medicine because, let's be real, I could NEVER. But I've thought about why and I deciding to go into an industry that's so difficult, so cut throat. That could drop me in two seconds without blinking an eye and never remembering my name. And I realized why I'm here.
I want to be in film because there are stories that need to be told. They need to be out there, to inspire people, and not all of these films are being made. someone needs to put their foot forward in order to bring these stories to light. Make people uncomfortable, help people realize things about themselves they never let themselves feel, inspire people to create a change, or even to give people an escape. I want to be a filmmaker because I want to help tell these stories, I want to stand behind a voice that has something important to say and project it to the masses.
There are so many different ways to go in the film industry. So many different jobs and niches to fall into. Of course I have a voice and an artistic vision that I want to show, but I also know myself. I know that I'm good at taking charge and commanding a group to get things done. I want to be a 1st AD because, honestly, it's something I know I'm good at. And I don't say this in a cocky way, but I've been on a lot of different student/proffesional sets, and if a 1st AD doesn't know what their doing and is on top of things, the whole set falls a part. I love being the person who helps everything flow on set and making sure that the director can focus on telling their story and bringing the artistic vision to life.
Film has inspired me, and I know for a fact that it inspires the world. Audiences are hungry for stories, and I call myself blessed everyday that I get to be a part of bringing those stories to life.
